Ask About Toyota Safety Sense from Your Ontario Toyota Dealers

There's no doubt that human error is a major factor in car accidents. Millions of crashes are reported every year, and many of them were -at least in part- due to human error or delayed reaction times when dealing with unexpected events.

Toyota is understandably concerned about this, which is why they have begun introducing the Toyota Safety Sense package on some recent models. These cars, available from Ontario Toyota dealers offer automated safety features which go above-and-beyond other brands in terms of keeping the driver alert and aware.

Here are just a few of the highlights of the Toyota Safety Sense initiative.

How Toyota Safety Sense Can Keep You Safe

1. Pre-Collision System (PCS)
The pre-collision system uses a combination of cameras and laser scanning to constantly watch for obstacles, cars, and sometimes even pedestrians in front of a vehicle. If an impact seems likely, the vehicle will warn the driver with both audio and visual prompts. If there's no driver action, it can even automatically hit the brakes in an attempt to prevent collision.

2. Lane Departure Alert (LDA)
It's easy for a driver to wander out of their lane if they become distracted, even for a couple moments. That's what the LDA is for. If the onboard computers detect the car drifting slowly out of its lane (as opposed to a deliberate signaled lane change) it will alert the driver and bring their attention back to the road.

3. Automatic High Beams (AHB)
Managing high beams at night can be an issue for drivers, since one generally has to flip back-and-forth depending on whether there are cars ahead. AHB solves this by monitoring for cars ahead, and automatically flipping the high-beams on when it determines there's no risk to other vehicles.

4. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
DRCC means smart cruise control! It watches for slower-moving cars ahead while you're in cruise, and automatically decreases speed to match theirs. If the car moves or speeds up, it accelerates back to the set cruise speed.
