Get an In-Depth Glimpse at the 2021 Toyota Sienna

When you think of power behind the wheel, a minivan is likely the last type of vehicle that jumps to mind. However, since the 2021 Toyota Sienna came onto the scene, things have changed! Being one of today’s most spacious SUV hybrids, the Sienna packs a punch, making it one of 1000 Island Toyota’s best-selling vehicles this year.

In case you don’t believe that a minivan can also be a high-performance vehicle, we’ve outlined some of the Sienna’s most attractive features here to try and convince you otherwise!

Upgraded Engine

One of the new Toyota Sienna’s biggest selling points, aside from its sleek exterior, is what it has working for it under the hood. The new 2021 model boasts a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors to offer optimal performance and a total output of 245 horsepower. All Sienna’s are now equipped with this hybrid option which is designed to be more fuel-efficient and powerful than the previous models' engines.

New All-Wheel Drive System

Another upgrade to the 2021 Sienna is its all-wheel-drive powertrain. It's important to note that this works a bit differently than previous models. In the past, the Sienna was equipped with a case and driveshaft leading from the gasoline-powered engine. However, now the gasoline engine is only tasked with powering the front wheels, while the rear wheels are each powered by one of the electric motors. This means that you can send the torque upfront or split it between the front and back wheels during less than ideal driving conditions.

Enhanced Driver’s Aids

All the 2021 Sienna models include a blind-spot monitor, as well as a rear cross-traffic alert system to help you minimize accidents and minor fender benders. All of this year’s models also come equipped with the whole 2.0 suite of Toyota Safety Sense features including automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection technology, a forward-collision warning system, and adaptive cruise control. But that’s not all, it also boasts automatic high-beam headlights, lane trace assistance, road-sign assistance, and a host of other features to keep your family safe.

Connectivity

In addition to having seven (wow) USB ports located throughout the vehicle, the Sienna is also functional with Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, and comes with a full three-month free trial of Sirius XM radio. For the LE and XLE models, you can take connectivity even further and add on a wireless cellphone charger, as well as upgraded speaker systems. The XLE Plus model also comes with a 1500-watt AC power converter with two outlets, which - in case you didn’t know - is enough juice to power a microwave.

Integrated Hybrid System

One feature that drivers have found particularly pleasant when test driving the new Toyota 2021 Sienna is how well integrated its hybrid systems are with the overall vehicle. There’s none of that feeling you get when braking that other hybrid systems experience and the Sport and Eco drive modes hardly affect the performance of the SUV’s powertrain at all.

Added Storage Solutions

If you’re considering the Sienna, space is likely important to you, and for many, the more storage space the merrier. Upfront, the new Sienna is equipped with a large storage area perfect for a purse or other bag underneath the dashboard bridge. Additionally, depending on the model you select, up to 16 cupholders! There are also two integrated cellphone slots so you don’t have to worry about having your phone sliding back and forth on the passenger seat or dash while driving. Finally, the center console also offers storage space and you can easily pass items back and forth to those sitting in the back.

LE & 8-Passenger XLE

For those with larger families or drivers that simply want the option of having more seating, both the LE and 8-passenger XLE models are outfitted with a middle seat that locks into the second row like a traditional minivan that can be moved and stored when not being used. Additionally, the 2021 Toyota Sienna also boasts long second-row seats featuring 25 full inches of fore/aft adjustability. For those who want even more luxurious seating options (you’ll love this) the Limited and Platinum Sienna models also include a recliner and flip-out ottoman (but only when the car is parked, of course).
